Easy Patina Finish x 2
Here’s two variations of my version of a Shabby Patina Metal Finish…One is a stronger bronze finish and the other is a stronger green patina with a copper glazed finish.
What ever you decide..do what is fun for you, perfectionist need not apply 🙂
Easy…yes I mean E-A-S-Y. Oh and fast.
What you’ll need:
Something fun to paint, like this metal horse head I picked up at an auction last year.
Optional Copper Kettle Shimmer Glaze
2 Sponges or chip brushes or your finger
Paper Plate or Bowl
Old Rag
Thoroughly Clean your piece
Paint or sponge Brown Bronze Shimmer all over
let dry ( I waited about 5 min:)
Dry brush with Peacock Chalk-Acrylic paint
Let dry ( I waited 2 min:)
Dry brush Brown Bronze Shimmer letting as much or as little peacock show.
Blot with a dry rag. All done! Easy!!
Scroll down to see how to get the higher green/copper look.
For the second look after you have applied the base of Brown Bronze apply Peacock Chalk-Acrylic Paint heavier.
Next apply Copper Kettle Glaze over any exposed Peacock Chalk-Acrylic Paint. I used my fingers 🙂
Easy..now go create something that makes you smile.
Paint Safe!
This would be a great way to shabby up some plain ceramic candle sticks or bowls! Love it!
TY…I went to Goodwill today and got tons of goodies to Patina 🙂 Working on a Greek bust right now.
That is absolutely beautiful!
Thanks Debra 🙂
Such a stud! I <3 him!
This is great and it looks easy enough that someone as artistically challenged as myself can do it. I’m going to try this out on a whitetail deer skull I have. I was just wondering what the copper kettle glaze is. Is it just a finish that gives it shine or does it actually add a bit more of the patina blue colour?
Tyson, Welcome 🙂 The copper kettle glaze on one coat is pretty opaque and shimmery. This video shows how it looks as it is layered on wood. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-E2OanB7BU
share when you are done. Somewhere I have a picture of my texas longhorns done in pearl shimmer 🙂 email me I’ll try and find them.
