School Lockers get new love with Chalk-Acrylic Paint and Shimmer Finish

After
Got some old school lockers that need to be repurposed? It is much easier than you think. Transform an old metal cabinet with Shabby Paints. No prep no prime..just paint.
Yeap..I just went old school on these lockers. Every time I slam the locker doors it takes me back to school. 🙂 Nothing else makes that sound.
I painted the outside with Garfield Grey and after that was dry I used a wet chip brush with a equal mixture of Smoked Pearl Shimmer and Sheer VAX. This gave a metallic aged look while adding protection in one step.

On the inside I did the doors in Licorice and didn’t seal them so they can be used as a chalkboard. The rest of the inside was done in Garfield grey and protected with Pearl reVAX for a touch of shimmer.
The stencil was done with a mixture of texture and alamo white.
Now to part with them..they are going to make someone with kids very very happy. I wish I would have had them when my kids where small. A place for coats, boots, gloves, bookbags and homework..would have been a dream.
What is VAX? What store did you get the paint colors from? 🙂

hi I was wondering how much Garfield grey paint was used on these lockers?
Hi Allison, it was around 10oz. of the Garfield Grey.
Thanks.
Are they sold?
Ali, Sorry they sold a few years ago. I have some unpainted in my shed. I’ll be getting them out to paint this spring. Are you close to Nashville, TN?
Good Job! Where did you get the stencil?
Thanks Sheena, Hobby Lobby a few years ago. 🙂
